As a core element of its mission, DRRF views the promotion of youth programs to be among its highest priorities.  By nurturing a love of the outdoors and combining it with physical fitness and personal skills development, river-based activities such as rowing, kayaking and canoeing help to bond young people with the natural resources of our region.  Rowing, in particular, offers a unique path to college scholarships for many students, especially for young women.  As Title IX has spurred the spectacular growth of women’s rowing programs at many colleges and universities, coaches and recruiters are eager to identify qualified applicants with rowing experience to strengthen their teams.

DRRF has arranged for a cooperative agreement between The Solebury School and the Swan Creek Rowing Club to inaugurate a rowing program for Solebury students.  Solebury crews use Swan Creek equipment and Swan Creek officials work with the Solebury coaching staff to ensure that the students receive thorough training in rowing and water safety skills.
